The Neuroinformatics Research Group (NRG) builds and maintains tools to capture, analyze, and share neuroimaging data. Although our group is primarily focused on facilitating research within the Harvard Center for Brain Science and Massachusetts General Hospital, we are deeply committed to open-source software development. From the early stages of every software project, we are thinking about how our efforts may benefit the larger scientific community. This commitment to open-source development has produced a large number of novel tools and infrastructure components, including a suite of neuroimaging quality control pipelines: DWIQC, AnatQC, T2QC, and BOLDQC. The NRG also supports a significant number of open-source projects outside of Harvard as well, including the Extensible Neuroimaging Archive Toolkit (XNAT), and our deep-seated culture of open data sharing has produced the Brain Genomics Superstruct Project open data release with over 13k downloads worldwide.
randy L. buckner Ph.D.
Randy is a Professor at Harvard and Associate Director of the Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging at MGH. His research develops and applies neuroimaging techniques to explore human memory in health and disease, including promoting tools for managing and sharing data. Before coming to Harvard, Randy was at Washington University in St. Louis where he developed XNAT with the NRG at WUSTL.

Tim is a senior developer and manager of the Neuroinformatics Research Group. Tim’s mission is to ensure that the NRG is facilitating scientific discovery by building the right tools, the right infrastructure, with the right people, and lots of glue.
